Shadman Islam converted his overnight 99 not out into a century, but Bangladesh lost two wickets in the first hour of the second day of the first Test against West Indies in Mirpur on Thursday.

Resuming at 213/3, Bangladesh reached 245/5 by the drinks break, with Shadman and Towhid Hridoy departing in the morning session.

Shadman brought up his third Test century with a double off debutant Joshua Bishop, becoming the fifth batter in Test history to score a hundred after remaining unbeaten on 99 overnight. However, his innings ended at 105 off 234 balls, including 11 fours, when Bishop trapped him lbw. Shadman reviewed the decision, but the Decision Review System showed three reds.

Hridoy, who retired hurt on 42 on the opening day, returned to the crease but failed to add to his score. He was bowled by Bishop with a straight delivery.

Litton Das, who resumed his innings on 10, was struck on his right knee after missing the line of a good-length delivery from Jayden Seales. He was batting on 23 at the time of writing, with Mehidy Hasan Miraz on 12 at the other end.
