Dhaka Abahani Limited secured a comfortable 3-1 victory over Chattogram City FC in the Bangladesh Football League (BFL) on Saturday, while league leaders Bangladesh Police FC dropped points for the first time this season.
Abahani played at their home ground, Mymensingh District Stadium, where Michael Babatunde, Anthony Okachi and Al Amin scored one goal each. Rafael Onorebe scored the only goal for Chattogram City.
With this victory, Abahani moved to seven points from three matches. They have won twice and drawn once and currently sit fifth in the league table.
Chattogram City, meanwhile, continued their poor start to the season. They have lost all four matches so far.
In another match, Bangladesh Police FC failed to extend their winning run as Arambagh Krira Sangha held them to a 1-1 draw at Shaheed Barkat Stadium in Gazipur.
Police had won their first three matches of the season, but Arambagh stopped them from making it four in a row.
Despite the draw, Police remain at the top of the table with 10 points from four matches.
Mohammedan Sporting Club sit second with nine points from three matches, while six-time champions Bashundhara Kings occupy fourth place with the same number of points.
Elsewhere, Rahmatganj Muslim Friends Society and Brothers Union played out a 2-2 draw at Flight Lieutenant Matiur Rahman Stadium in Munshiganj.
Rahmatganj have now drawn three of their four matches, losing the other against Police.
Brothers Union are still searching for their first win of the season. They have collected two points from four matches, with two draws and two defeats.
