Jamuna Bank Foundation has provided 135 free surgical procedures to patients with cleft lip, cleft palate and burn-related injuries during a two-week medical camp in Munshiganj, where 326 patients received medical consultations.
The camp, organised and funded by the foundation in collaboration with Netherlands-based Stichting Interplast Holland, was held at Munshiganj General Hospital from 26 September to 7 October, the foundation said in a press release.
The initiative provided specialised medical treatment and surgical services free of charge to patients requiring plastic and reconstructive surgery.
To mark the completion of the programme, the foundation organised a closing ceremony at a hotel in Dhaka.
Al-Haj Nur Mohammed, chairman of Jamuna Bank Foundation, chairman of the executive committee and director of Jamuna Bank PLC, attended the ceremony as chief guest.
Md Shahidul Islam, chief executive officer of Jamuna Bank Foundation and deputy managing director and chief risk officer of Jamuna Bank PLC, was present as special guest.
Plastic surgeon and team leader Menno Huikeshoven, along with members of the medical team from Stichting Interplast Holland, attended the ceremony as guests of honour.
Senior officials of Jamuna Bank PLC and other dignitaries were also present.
