A delegation led by the DP World Board of Directors Chairman Essa Kazim, met Prime Minister Tarique Rahman on Thursday.
During the meeting, discussions focused on the expansion of trade and investment between Bangladesh and the United Arab Emirates (UAE), the development of port management and logistics sectors, and various issues of mutual interest.
The two sides also discussed a 15-year concession agreement signed between Bangladesh and DP World for operating and modernising the Chittagong Container Terminal.
Under this agreement, DP World will be responsible for the operation and maintenance of the container terminal and its overflow container yard.
The partnership is expected to play an important role in modernising the terminal, improving operational efficiency, and boosting port and logistics infrastructure capacity.
Furthermore, Tarique enquired about DP World’s interest in establishing a Free Trade Zone and a rail-based inland container depot (ICD), as well as making new investments in Bangladesh.
