Convay, a video-conferencing platform developed by Bangladeshi technology company Synesis IT has been selected for the second consecutive year as the technology partner of a major African infrastructure summit, according to a company press release.
Instead of Zoom, Google Meet or Microsoft Teams, the Bangladeshi platform was used for video conferencing, live streaming and real-time multilingual transcription for the 2026 Sustainable Infrastructure Development Symposium South Africa, held from 23 to 25 August at the Century City Conference Centre in Cape Town.
The summit was organised by Infrastructure South Africa (ISA), an agency under the Investment and Infrastructure Office of the Office of the President of South Africa, under the leadership of President Cyril Ramaphosa.
More than 1,100 high-level delegates from 29 countries, including ministers, mayors, investors, fund managers and development partners, took part in discussions on sustainable and future-ready infrastructure at the local government level.
Mameetse Masemola, head of Infrastructure South Africa, said Convay’s multilingual streaming helped make the summit more inclusive.
“Its reliability, ease of use and technical expertise allowed us to connect participants from across the continent seamlessly,” she said.
For Synesis IT, the second consecutive selection demonstrates the platform’s ability to support a large international event, said S A M Nurun Nabi, chief business officer of the company.
Convay supports real-time transcription with speaker identification, integrated chat, screen sharing, a digital whiteboard and AI-powered meeting summaries. It can accommodate more than 10,000 participants in a single session and supports transcription in more than 30 languages, including English, Bangla, French, Portuguese and Spanish.
The platform can operate on low-bandwidth connections and is available in cloud, hybrid and on-premise configurations, allowing organisations to run it on their own servers.
Synesis IT said the latter option can help government and institutional users maintain greater control over data and meet security and regulatory requirements.
In Bangladesh, Convay has been used for Bangladesh Telecommunication Regulatory Commission public hearings for the past two years, as well as national training programmes of the Ministry of Environment, Forest and Climate Change and the Ministry of Water Resources.
The company said AfriMASS’s online training programme was also held on Convay, while the platform served as an online partner for the National Conference on Climate Finance, which brought together participants from several countries.
It is also used for national and international meetings, seminars and workshops, according to Synesis IT.
