Shah Rukh Khan has given fans several updates about his upcoming film “King”, revealing details about the shoot, trailer, music and visual effects while keeping much of the project under wraps, writes Hindustan Times.
The actor spoke about the film during his latest #AskSRK session on X on Tuesday. With “King” scheduled to hit theatres on 24 December, fans were particularly eager to know when they would get their first proper look at the film.
Asked about the most difficult part of making “King”, Shah Rukh revealed that the shoot was physically demanding. He suffered several injuries, which forced the production to stop and restart multiple times.
“Had a few injuries while shooting so had to start stop many times but now all broken is fixed…and nearly all done…so all good,” he wrote.
Shah Rukh also said he was excited for audiences to experience every aspect of the film rather than highlighting one particular element.
“Everything in King …worked very hard to entertain as many as possible. The action the songs the actors and of course my hair!!!” he wrote.
The trailer remains one of the biggest talking points among fans. Asked why it was taking so long, Shah Rukh said the delay was not deliberate. He explained that the team was taking its time to create something that would do justice to the film.
“Ab picture hi dekho na! Tarsa nahi raha join acchhi wali bana raha hoon….ke Dil ko tasalli mile….Sab ayega…24th Dec se pehle,” he said, indicating that the trailer and other promotional material will arrive before the film’s release.
When another fan jokingly asked whether he or director Siddharth Anand was responsible for the delay in the teaser or poster, Shah Rukh defended the filmmaker before admitting that he might be the one taking more time.
“Sid toh bechara laga hua hai. Late bhai hain…taking time to put our best foot forward so u all enjoy it and feel proud and happy with King,” he wrote.
The actor also revealed that he has been closely involved in the visual effects work. He joked that he was putting pressure on the VFX team to deliver the best possible result.
Shah Rukh further teased the film’s action sequences, saying the action is “very big” and that Anand has worked hard on them. However, he also hopes the emotional and comedic elements connect with audiences.
“King” will also feature music from Arijit Singh, who is still working on a song for the film. Shah Rukh said the singer is a perfectionist and is taking time to complete the finishing touches.
The actor was also asked about the film’s release date, as “King” is expected to arrive around the same period as Hollywood releases including “Avengers: Doomsday” and “Dune: Part Three”.
Asked whether “King” would feel “sandwiched” between the two films and whether its release could change, Shah Rukh responded with humour.
“Not at all….Baaki bread pieces ka bhi toh socho….hum toh center ki tasty Tikki hain,” he said.
As for his next project after “King”, Shah Rukh did not reveal any details. Instead, he simply replied, “Pata nahi Abhi toh ‘King Akela Kaafi hai’.”
Alongside Shah Rukh, “King” features Suhana Khan, Deepika Padukone, Rani Mukerji, Abhishek Bachchan, Arshad Warsi and Anil Kapoor.
Produced by Red Chillies Entertainment and Marflix Pictures, “King” is scheduled for release on 24 December 2026.
