Pop star Lady Gaga has welcomed her first child with fiancé Michael Polansky, marking a new chapter for the Grammy winner after years of openly discussing her wish to become a mother.
According to Deadline, the 40-year-old singer and Polansky are now parents to their first child together. The couple have largely kept their relationship private while supporting each other’s professional and philanthropic work.
Motherhood has been a long-held dream for Gaga. In a 2019 YouTube video, she spoke about her plans for the following decade and said she hoped to have children while continuing to pursue acting.
“I want to do more movies, I want to have babies,” she said at the time.
She returned to the subject in a 2020 interview with InStyle, saying she was excited about having children and looked forward to becoming a mother. Gaga also joked about the nickname “Mother Monster”, which fans have used for years.
During a 2025 appearance on The Late Show with Stephen Colbert, Gaga again described motherhood as something she hoped would be her “next starring role”.
“I would like to do many things,” she said while discussing her future plans. “But what I really want is to be a mom. That’s my next starring role, I hope.”
Gaga and Polansky were first linked in 2020 after they were photographed together at a New Year’s Eve party in Las Vegas. They later made their relationship public, including appearances together around the 2020 Super Bowl in Miami.
The couple spent much of the early months of the Covid-19 pandemic together while quarantining. Over the years, they have largely stayed out of the spotlight while supporting each other’s professional and philanthropic work.
Polansky serves as executive director of the Parker Institute for Cancer Immunotherapy. Gaga has also remained involved in mental health advocacy through her Born This Way Foundation, which she founded in 2012.
In 2021, a source told PEOPLE that the couple had also bonded over their shared interest in charitable work. The source described Polansky as “sweet and supportive” and said the two made a strong team.
Gaga confirmed her engagement to Polansky in 2024. During the 2024 Paris Olympics, she was heard introducing him as her “fiancé” to then-French Prime Minister Gabriel Attal in a TikTok video posted by Attal.
The arrival of their first child marks a new chapter for Gaga, who has spent years balancing her music and film career with her advocacy work.
