A new song by singer Zinia Zafrin Luipa and lyricist Robiul Islam Jibon carries a deeply personal story, turning a father’s tender memory into a birthday gift from a mother to her daughter.
Titled Projapoti, the song was written by Jibon, sung by Luipa, and composed and arranged by Samyabrata Dipto. Chandan Roy Chowdhury directed the music video, which was released on 4 September.
The idea for the song came during Eid-ul-Fitr, when Jibon visited his village home with his wife and children.
One afternoon, he took his daughter Maizah for a walk. As butterflies flew around small shrubs by the roadside, the little girl watched them with wonder and tried to chase and touch them. Jibon recorded the moment on his phone.
“After returning to Dhaka, I was watching that video, and suddenly the idea for a song came to me. I wrote Projapoti,” Jibon said.
Although the song was inspired by his daughter, he wrote it in a way that listeners could relate to it through different kinds of love and happiness.
“Someone can listen to it while thinking of a friend or a romantic partner. They can connect it with any joyful feeling,” he added.
After the initial composition was completed, Luipa listened to the song and immediately liked it. She became even more touched after hearing the story behind its creation.
She then decided to make the song a birthday present for her daughter, Payra, whose birthday is on September 5.
Luipa also appeared in the music video with Payra. Speaking about the song, she said, “Among my original songs, Projapoti will remain very special. If listeners hear the song before reading its story, I believe they will understand the story through the melody. The image of their own butterfly will naturally appear before their eyes.”
Jibon said the song holds special meaning for both of them.
“I wrote the song about my daughter and butterflies, while Luipa sang it about her own butterfly. That is a wonderful thing. This song will remain special in both our lives,” he said.
