Mehidy Hasan Miraz will get another chance to make his mark in an overseas franchise league after joining Guyana Amazon Warriors for the ongoing Caribbean Premier League.
The Bangladesh all rounder confirmed the move through his official Facebook page on Monday.
“A new challenge awaits. Mehidy Hasan Miraz is set to represent Guyana Amazon Warriors in the Caribbean Premier League,” the post read.
The move gives Miraz another opportunity to build his record outside Bangladesh. The 28 year old has received calls from several foreign leagues over the years, but regular chances have been hard to come by.
His first CPL opportunity arrived in 2017. Trinbago Knight Riders picked him for that season, which was also his first selection in an overseas franchise league.
However, Miraz did not play a match.
He then had to wait eight years for another foreign franchise opportunity. Lahore Qalandars picked him for the Pakistan Super League in 2025. Once again, he could not get into the playing XI.
Miraz finally made his overseas franchise debut earlier this year with Galle Gallants in the Lanka Premier League.
But his first taste of action did not go according to plan. He scored 44 runs in four matches and failed to take a wicket.
The CPL now offers him a fresh chance.
Miraz joins a Guyana side that has started the tournament in strong form. The Amazon Warriors have won each of their first three matches and have six points.
They still have seven league matches to play before the playoffs. The competition will continue until September 20.
Miraz also arrives with plenty of international experience. The all rounder has been a regular member of the Bangladesh side across formats and has played important roles with both bat and ball.
There is also an unusual pattern involving his previous overseas teams.
Trinbago Knight Riders won the CPL in 2017 after picking Miraz. Lahore Qalandars also won the PSL in the season they selected him. Galle Gallants then won their tournament after having Miraz in their squad.
Now Guyana Amazon Warriors will hope that pattern continues.
For Miraz, however, the immediate target will be different. After years of waiting for chances abroad, the Bangladesh all rounder finally has another opportunity to show what he can do on the franchise stage.
