Bangladesh Jewellers Association (Bajus) has announced a reduction in gold prices in the domestic market.
The price of 22‑carat gold jewellery has been cut by Tk4,474 per bhori, setting the new rate at Tk236,254 including VAT.
BAJUS said the revised price took effect nationwide from 10am Monday.
Under the new pricing, 22‑carat gold jewellery is Tk236,254 per bhori including VAT. The price of 21‑carat gold jewellery has been reduced by Tk4,141 to Tk225,640 per bhori.
Similarly, the price of 18‑carat gold jewellery has been cut by Tk3,616 to Tk193,739 per bhori, while traditional method gold jewellery has been reduced by Tk2,916 to Tk158,280 per bhori.
Earlier, on 29 August, the price of 22‑carat gold jewellery was reduced by Tk7,115 per bhori. Before that, on 20, 22 and 25 August, the price of 22‑carat gold jewellery had been raised in three phases by a total of Tk10,964.
With the latest cuts, the price of 22‑carat gold jewellery has now fallen by Tk11,489 in two rounds.
