Argentine football legend Claudio Caniggia visited Bangladesh to attend the grand finale of the Dhaka Inter School Champions League 2026, where he interacted with young players, presented awards and shared his views on football development in Bangladesh.
Noubahini College, Dhaka won the final with a 3-0 victory over BIT School at the Fortis Downtown Resort and Grounds, said a press release on Tuesday.
The tournament brought together 36 schools from across Dhaka. IFAD Multiproducts Chief Executive Officer Kazi Arif Zaman said the initiative aimed to encourage youth to embrace outdoor sports. “Football teaches discipline, teamwork, leadership and resilience. We believe corporate entities have an important role to play in creating opportunities for Bangladeshi youth through initiatives like this,” he said.
Caniggia, who played alongside Diego Maradona for Argentina, praised Bangladesh’s passion for football and emphasised the importance of quality coaching, institutional support and mental strength in player development.
Argentina Ambassador Marcelo Carlos Cesa attended the event alongside representatives from IFAD Group, Fortis FC and Sportamagica.
