Renowned Nazrul Sangeet exponent Fatema Tuz Zohra is set to feature in the latest episode of Prothom Alo’s regular musical programme Music@Desk, which will be released tonight at 9pm.
The episode, recorded on 1 August at the Prothom Alo office, will be available on the newspaper’s official Facebook page and its Entertainment YouTube channel.
Fatema Tuz Zohra opened the session with Rabindra Sangeet Ache Dukkho, Ache Mrityu, followed by E Monihar Amay Nahi Saje.
She then performed the Nazrul Sangeet classic Momo Mayamoy Swapone Kar Banshi Baje Gopone, accompanied by a prominent flute arrangement.
She went on to perform Kothay Tui Khujis Bhagoban and Dwijendralal Roy’s Aji Tomar Kache Bhasiya Jay.
Returning to Nazrul Sangeet, she sang Tepantorer Mathe Bodhu He Eka Bose Thaki, Nacher Neshar Ghor Legeche, Eso Priyo and Mon Rangaye Dhire Dhire Ghum Bhangaye.
During the session, she also performed an Assamese folk song in the tune of Tepantorer Mathe.
She concluded the musical evening with lyricist and composer Habibur Rahman’s Tumi Bes Bodle Gechho, Purono Saikote Ar Pansi Bhiraw Na.
Speaking about the experience, Fatema Tuz Zohra said she felt as though she were singing at home because the audience listened attentively without reacting or interrupting.
“I did not expect to find such an audience at a newspaper office. The moment will remain memorable for me,” she said.
The singer was accompanied by Pallab Sanyal on tabla, Tanvir Sajib on keyboard and Mamunur Rashid on flute.
The session marks the 15th edition of Music@Desk, an initiative designed to entertain Prothom Alo employees during their workday.
