Police recovered a shooter gun, bullets and several cocktails from the residence of a Union Parishad (UP) member in Mirpur upazila of Kushtia early Tuesday.
The raid was carried out around 4am at the house of Ariful, a member of Chhatian UP.
Acting on a tip‑off, a team from Mirpur Police Station searched the premises and seized the firearm, ammunition and explosives.
Mirpur Police Station Officer‑in‑charge Shahidul Islam Shahid said initial interrogation did not reveal any link between UP member Ariful and the recovered items.
Ariful was later released in the presence of journalists and local dignitaries. Police are now investigating the incident to determine how the weapons and explosives reached his house and to identify those responsible.
Officials said further details will be disclosed once the investigation is complete.
