Three active members of a theft ring have been arrested and two stolen delivery vans recovered following police operations in the capital’s Uttara.
The arrests were made during raids conducted in Uttara West and Tongi East police station areas on Monday night. .
The arrested individuals have been identified as Md Khokon, 30, Md Selim, 42, and Md Arif, 28.
According to police, the case arose from an incident that occurred between 10:30am on 13 July and 6am on 14 July at an establishment located in BDR Market, Sector 6, Uttara.
An employee of the establishment fled under the pretext of making a delivery, taking 180 litres of mustard oil, a battery-run delivery van, and Tk25,000 in cash.
Following the incident, a theft case was filed with Uttara East Police Station.
Based on information technology and intelligence, police officers traced the suspects and conducted the raids.
During the operation, police recovered two stolen battery-run delivery vans from their possession.
Police revealed that the arrested Khokon and Selim are accused in multiple other cases.
Legal action against the arrested suspects is currently under process.
