Left-arm pacer Shoriful Islam will leave for Darwin on Wednesday night and will be available for selection for Bangladesh’s second and final Test against Australia in Mackay, scheduled to begin on August 22. Shoriful, who was ruled out of the series opener with a hamstring injury, passed his fitness test on Monday.
Shoriful sustained the hamstring injury during Bangladesh’s ODI series against Zimbabwe and returned home midway through the series to begin his rehabilitation. After completing his bowling workload, fitness test and regaining his full bowling rhythm, he has now received clearance to travel.
The first Test of the series is scheduled to begin on Thursday at 6:30am Bangladesh time. Missing the opening Test will also give Shoriful some additional time to acclimatise to Australian conditions before the second Test in Mackay.
