Ryan Reynolds has confirmed that another Deadpool film is in development, signalling the return of Marvel’s foul-mouthed antihero following the record-breaking success of Deadpool & Wolverine.
According to The Hollywood Reporter, Reynolds shared the update during an appearance at Fanatics Fest 2026.
Speaking on stage, the actor said there are still several storylines from the comics that he wants to explore.
“There’s a few really deep cuts that I think are missing behind the movies. I think there’s a few deep cuts missing from some of the comics. There’s certainly some stuff that, you know, I love that Fabian Nicieza wrote that is incredible. Gerry Duggan, who was a friend, was an incredible comic writer. There’s stuff upcoming. There’s eventually, you know, remotely another Deadpool film. It’s going to be great,” Reynolds said.
Reynolds did not reveal any further details about the project. It remains unclear whether the new film will be another standalone Deadpool adventure or an ensemble story in which the character plays a supporting role.
The Hollywood Reporter said it has contacted Marvel for comment.
The news follows an exclusive report by The Hollywood Reporter last year that Reynolds had been exploring ideas for another film in the franchise featuring members of the X-Men. At the time, the actor also said he did not see himself making another solo Deadpool film.
“Centering Deadpool works best if you take everything away from him and put his back against the wall. I can’t really do that again,” Reynolds told The Hollywood Reporter in 2024. “A fourth time feels a little iterative and redundant. That doesn’t mean sacrificing fun. There is still an arc for Deadpool which is fulfilling and powerful.”
Released in 2024, Deadpool & Wolverine, starring Reynolds alongside Hugh Jackman as Wolverine, became the highest-grossing R-rated film of all time, earning more than $1.3 billion worldwide. The film followed the box-office success of Deadpool (2016) and Deadpool 2 (2018), both of which were major commercial hits.
