Civil Aviation and Tourism Minister Afroza Khanam Rita expressed her firm commitment to building a “Green Bangladesh” for new generation.

Speaking as the chief guest at the inauguration of “One Child, One Tree” programme held at Nabagram Government Primary School in Manikganj Sadar Upazila on Sunday, the minister emphasised the necessity of environmental preservation.

“We are working to build a green Bangladesh for the new generation,” she said. “We must commit to properly nurturing the saplings being distributed and planted today”.

She further remarked that the gathering was not merely for planting trees but was aimed at the broader goal of ensuring a greener future for coming generations.

The ceremony was attended by Manikganj Deputy Commissioner (DC) Najmun Ara Sultana, Superintendent of Police (SP) Mohammad Sarwar Alam, and various political party leaders and activists.

The minister’s visit to Manikganj included participation in three consecutive events.

Following the school programme, she attended the monthly meeting of Manikganj District Development and Coordination Committee at deputy commissioner’s conference room as the chief guest.

Additionally, Khanam graced “Rabindra-Nazrul Jayanti-2026” celebrations at the Manikganj District Shilpakala Academy as the chief guest, where she distributed prizes among the winners of various competitions.
