Guardian Life Insurance Limited settled insurance claims worth Tk334.09 crore in the first six months of 2026, a 34.3 per cent increase from the same period a year earlier, as the insurer expanded its customer base and accelerated claim processing through digitalisation.
The company said in a statement on Sunday that it disbursed 131,593 claims between January and June, covering life insurance, health insurance, policy maturities and other benefits. It had settled claims worth Tk248.81 crore during the corresponding period of 2025.
Death claims accounted for the largest share of payouts, with Guardian settling 23,740 claims worth Tk175.24 crore.
The insurer also paid Tk140.21 crore against 104,259 health insurance claims, while 3,594 policy maturity and other claims amounted to Tk18.65 crore.
Guardian attributed the higher claim settlements to the growth of its insurance portfolio, continued investment in digital technology and improvements in verification and claims processing.
The company said it has also simplified claims procedures and strengthened customer support to make the settlement process faster and more transparent for policyholders.
CEO Sheikh Rakibul Karim said prompt claim settlement is the most tangible demonstration of the value of insurance.
“We are encouraged by the continued growth in our claims settlement, but more importantly, by the confidence our customers continue to place in us,” he said.
Rakibul said Guardian would continue investing in technology, governance and customer service to simplify and speed up claims processing.
The insurer has also been expanding distribution through bancassurance partnerships, microinsurance products and digital sales channels.
Guardian said it now provides insurance coverage to more than 1.3 crore people across Bangladesh, serves more than 550 corporate clients and has partnerships with over 500 hospitals, allowing policyholders to access cashless medical services.
