Two more people have died of dengue in the past 24 hours, raising this year’s death toll from the mosquito-borne disease to 24, according to the Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS).
During the same period, 190 new dengue patients were admitted to hospitals across the country, the DGHS said in its regular dengue update issued through the Health Emergency Operation Centre and Control Room.
Of the newly detected cases, 71 were reported in Dhaka division, 48 in Barishal, 34 in Chattogram and 22 in Khulna. Rajshahi reported seven new cases, while Mymensingh and Sylhet recorded six and two cases respectively.
Since 1 January, a total of 7,747 dengue cases have been reported nationwide. Of them, 7,068 patients have recovered and been discharged from hospitals, including 193 in the past 24 hours.
Currently, 655 dengue patients are undergoing treatment at hospitals across the country.
According to a comparative report by the Disease Control Branch under the National Malaria Elimination and Aedes Transmitted Disease Control Programme, Bangladesh recorded 13,594 dengue cases and 52 deaths between 1 January and 8 July, 2025.
In comparison, the country reported 7,747 cases and 24 deaths during the same period this year, showing a decline in both infections and fatalities.
