After two consecutive reductions, gold prices have increased in the country’s market. The price of 22‑carat gold has risen by Tk2,216 per bhori, bringing it to Tk224,182 per bhori.

The decision on the new price was taken at an emergency meeting of the Standing Committee on Pricing and Price Monitoring of the Bangladesh Jewellers Association (BAJUS) on Thursday morning.

The revised price came into effect at 10am the same day.

According to the statement, the new price was set, including VAT, considering the overall situation and the rise in the local market price of pure gold.

Under the revised rates, the price of 22‑carat gold is Tk224,182 per bhori, 21‑carat gold Tk214,093, 18‑carat gold Tk183,883, and traditional gold Tk150,232 per bhori.

BAJUS said the new prices will remain in force at all jewellery outlets nationwide until further notice. As VAT is already included in the sales price, no additional VAT may be charged to customers. However, artisans may set wages according to jewellery design.

Meanwhile, silver prices have also increased in the domestic market. The price of 22‑carat silver rose by Tk291 per bhori to Tk4,782. The price of 21‑carat silver is Tk4,549 per bhori, 18‑carat silver Tk3,907, and traditional silver Tk2,624 per bhori.
