The government has appointed Bangladesh Bank (BB) Executive Director Md Sarwar Hossain as a deputy governor of the central bank on a three-year contractual term.
According to a notification issued by the Financial Institutions Division of the finance ministry on Tuesday, the appointment has been made under Article 10(4) of the Bangladesh Bank Order, 1972.
The notification said Sarwar Hossain will assume the post after voluntarily retiring from his current position as executive director and postponing his post-retirement leave, a mandatory leave period before formal retirement for government officials.
His three-year contractual appointment as deputy governor will take effect from the date he joins the new position.
The government said the remaining terms and conditions of his appointment will be specified in the contract, adding that the order takes immediate effect.
