Two workshops on Software Requirements Specification (SRS) formulation and Software Analysis & Design (SAD) for a Knowledge Management System under LGED-CReLIC were held on Monday, 29 June at the seminar hall of the Local Government Engineering Department (LGED) headquarters, said in a press release issued by the organisers.
The sessions were organised by the Climate Resilient Local Infrastructure Centre (CReLIC) under the Climate Resilient Infrastructure Mainstreaming Project (CRIMP), implemented by LGED, with the aim of strengthening digital knowledge systems for climate-resilient infrastructure planning and management.
LGED Chief Engineer Md Belal Hossain attended as chief guest and said effective use of accurate information and knowledge is essential for building a modern Bangladesh and addressing climate change risks. He said LGED continues to work on infrastructure development in both rural and urban areas, adding that the CReLIC Knowledge Management System (KMS) would serve as a platform for engineers, researchers and policymakers to exchange information and experience.
The workshops were chaired by Md Azharul Islam, Additional Chief Engineer of LGED and Director of CReLIC, who said proper analysis and precise design are the cornerstone of sustainable software systems. He added that the SRS and software design developed through the workshops would contribute to a robust database and support long-term institutional capacity and sustainable development goals.
Consultants from ADDIE Soft Ltd, the firm engaged for the assignment, presented detailed work plans on SRS formulation and system design. They included Software Developer Md Shahnewaz Russell, AGM Md Shariful Islam and Project Manager Md Niamat Ullah, who outlined the development approach for the KMS platform.
The primary objective of the workshops was to gather feedback from participants to improve system effectiveness and sustainability.
Senior LGED officials attending the event included Additional Chief Engineers Syeda Asma Khatun, Kazi Saiful Kabir and Md Wahiduzzaman, along with project directors, executive engineers, senior assistant engineers and CReLIC technical personnel.
Other attendees included CRIMP-CReLIC Project Director Md Abdul Khalek, SDIRIIP Project Director Md Latif Hossain, CReLIC Executive Engineer Fatema Ismat Ara, Assistant Engineer Arpon Paul and expert consultants of CReLIC.
