The Public Service Commission (PSC) has published the final results of the 47th Bangladesh Civil Service (BCS) examination, recommending 1,521 candidates for appointment against a total of 3,688 posts.
Of the 3,487 cadre posts, only 1,320 candidates were recommended, leaving 2,167 cadre positions vacant. The PSC also recommended 201 candidates for non-cadre positions.
The PSC said that due to a lack of qualified candidates, it was not possible to recommend candidates for 2,343 posts.
A total of 3,631 candidates passed the written examination. After the viva voce, 1,521 candidates were finally selected.
The notification for the 47th BCS was published on 28 November 2024. The preliminary examination was held on 19 September 2025, with results published just 9 days later — a record for the PSC.
The written examination was held simultaneously across eight divisional cities from 27 November to 18 December 2025. Written results were published on 7 April this year, followed by viva voce from May onwards.
According to PSC sources, although the results were planned for the first week of July, the commission published them on Sunday after completing the work ahead of schedule.
‘One BCS, One Year’
The commission has prepared a “One BCS, One Year” roadmap to reduce recruitment delays, with full implementation expected from the 50th BCS onwards.
The results are available on the PSC website. Successful candidates will receive appointment letters through the relevant ministries.
The large number of vacant cadre posts has raised concerns about administrative capacity and the need for more qualified candidates in future BCS examinations.
