The Dhaka University of Engineering and Technology (DUET) CSE Carnival 2026 concluded on Saturday with a grand closing ceremony and prize distribution.
The event started on Friday organised DUET’s Department of Computer Science and Engineering (CSE).
According to the press release, the event was held at the university’s Shaheed Shakil Parvez Auditorium. Vice-Chancellor Professor Dr Mohammad Iqbal was present as the chief guest.
Pro-Vice-Chancellor Professor Dr Md Arefin Kowser, Gazipur Deputy Commissioner (DC) Md Nurul Karim Bhuiyan, and the Chief Executive Officer of BdREN, Mohammad Tawrit, attended as special guests.
President of the Bangladesh Mathematical Olympiad Committee Professor Dr Mohammad Kaykobad of BRAC University was present as the guest of honour.
In his speech at the closing ceremony, Vice-Chancellor Mohammad Iqbal said the vibrant participation of more than 1,200 technology-loving students from over 100 universities across the country succeeded in turning the event into a massive technology festival.
He added that the carnival showcased unique examples of creativity, innovation, and the extraordinary skills of students.
“Our CSE department is not limited to classroom teaching; it is working relentlessly to create skilled technologists, innovators, and responsible researchers of the future through practical education and technology-based solutions to real-world problems,” the VC said.
He urged students to apply their acquired knowledge for the welfare of society and humanity.
The Pro-VC remarked that the hosting of the carnival is a matter of pride for DUET, proving that computer science is the art of problem-solving and the world of innovation.
Meanwhile, the Gazipur DC inspired students by describing science as the “eyes” and technology as the “hands” that solve problems. He expressed his admiration for the technological solutions presented in fields such as agriculture, engineering, and medicine.
Presided over by the Head of the CSE Department, Professor Dr Momotaz Begum, the ceremony was also addressed by the Director (Student Welfare) Professor Dr Utpal Kumar Das and the Registrar (Additional Charge), Professor Dr Md Abu Taher.
Dr Taher also served as the Project Director of the DUET chapter for Innovers Bangladesh’s National Science and Technology Carnival 2026.
The event featured several prominent figures on stage, including competition judges Professor Dr Mohammad Abul Kashem, Professor Dr Md Obaidur Rahman, and Professor Dr Fazlul Hasan Siddiqui, alongside the Organising Secretary and Assistant Professor of the CSE Department, Dr Umme Fawzia Rahim.
Organised in collaboration with the DUET Computer Society and Whiteboard Initiatives as part of the Innovers Bangladesh National Science and Technology Carnival 2026, the two-day event included an ICT Olympiad and Project Showcasing on the first day.
The final day featured an Inter-University Programming Contest (IUPC) and an AI Hackathon Competition. The carnival ended this afternoon following a networking session and the distribution of awards among the winners.
