A Chattogram‑bound US‑Bangla Airlines flight has experienced a mechanical fault at Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport in the capital.
While moving slowly toward the runway for takeoff, the aircraft’s engine suddenly failed. In the emergency situation, the door was broken open, and passengers were evacuated safely.
All 70 passengers were unharmed. The flight later departed at 8am.
The incident occurred during takeoff preparations on Wednesday.
As soon as the engine fault became known, the aircraft’s crew got confused and failed to coordinate, spreading panic among passengers. Many rushed to disembark with their luggage.
US‑Bangla Airlines General Manager (PR) Kamrul Islam said a fire warning signal appeared on the cockpit monitoring system, prompting the pilot to immediately stop the aircraft and inform air traffic control.
He added the pilot followed safety protocols and took appropriate measures.
The flight, scheduled to depart at 7am, eventually left Dhaka at 8am after the incident.
