A Singapore-bound Biman flight was forced to make an emergency landing shortly after takeoff from Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport in the capital on Friday morning, due to engine trouble.
The flight, BG 584, operated by a Boeing 737-800 aircraft, took off at 8:38am (Bangladesh time) with 154 passengers and 7 crew members on board.
Shortly after takeoff, as the aircraft climbed to an altitude of approximately 2,500 feet, the pilot reported an engine malfunction and made the decision to return to Dhaka.
The plane landed safely at 8:59am and was subsequently moved to Bay 14 of the airport. All passengers and crew members are safe and unharmed, confirmed Md Mahmudul Hasan Masun, spokesperson for the Executive Director of the airport.
Airport officials conducted a runway inspection immediately after the emergency landing to investigate the possibility of a bird strike, but no debris or signs of birds were found on the runway.
