A woman and her daughter-in-law died after being electrocuted while working in a cattle shed at Katiadi upazila in Kishoreganj on Friday noon.

The incident occurred around 12pm in Ukhrashal village under Achmita union.

The deceased were identified as Mehera Khatun, 50, and her daughter-in-law Khaleda Akhtar, 32, wife of expatriate Jahangir Mia of the village.

According to locals, the two women went to the cattle shed for routine work when they came into contact with an exposed electric wire attached to a window grille. While trying to hold the window frame, they were electrocuted and critically injured.

Family members rushed them to Jahurul Islam Medical College Hospital in Bajitpur, where doctors declared both dead on arrival.

Officer-in-Charge of Katiadi Model Police Station Md Rafiqur Islam confirmed the incident and said police visited the spot after receiving the information. Legal procedures are underway.
