A clash took place on Monday afternoon involving family members of Kushtia-3 (Sadar) lawmaker Mufti Amir Hamza while they were travelling from Maheshpur in Jhenaidah to Jibannagar in Chuadanga via Kushtia.
Following the incident, the MP on Tuesday noon posted on his verified Facebook page, alleging that his brother-in-law was assaulted and his wife received an open death threat.
In his post, Amir Hamza introduced himself as the elected Member of Parliament from Kushtia-3. He stated that his brother-in-law was “brutally beaten” and seriously injured over what he described as a trivial incident. He also alleged that his wife was openly threatened with death. He added that the attackers fled the scene before he arrived.
He further said he immediately took legal action with the assistance of the administration. He expressed hope that those involved in the incident would be brought to justice swiftly and given appropriate punishment.
The MP also said he had been informed by senior officials that operations to arrest the suspects had been ongoing since Monday night. He added that the accused had fled the area.
He reiterated his trust in the administration and urged the authorities to arrest those responsible for attacking his brother-in-law and threatening his wife.
He concluded his post seeking prayers and support from the public.
