IPDC Finance has joined two Bangladesh Bank refinance facilities aimed at expanding credit flow to micro, small and medium enterprises (MSME) as policymakers push cluster-based industrialisation and lower-cost financing for priority sectors.

Under the arrangements, IPDC Finance will access funding from a Tk3,000 crore cluster financing scheme and a Tk1,500 crore fund for the development of MSMEs.

The facilities are designed to reduce financing costs, improve access to credit and support employment generation through production-linked clusters.

The schemes were introduced through Bangladesh Bank’s SME and Special Programs Department circulars issued on 5 February, as part of broader efforts to strengthen sustainable growth and expand financial inclusion.

“The partnership would help expand financing for small and medium entrepreneurs, particularly in cluster-based and manufacturing-oriented sectors, while also strengthening support for women entrepreneurs,” IPDC Finance Managing Director Rizwan Dawood Shams said.

Bangladesh Bank said the refinance framework is designed to improve access to affordable funding for micro, small and medium enterprises and reinforce the role of financial institutions in decentralised industrial development.

The agreements were signed at Bangladesh Bank headquarters in the presence of senior central bank officials and representatives of participating financial institutions.

IPDC said it will continue working with the central bank and stakeholders to scale up sustainable entrepreneurship financing across the country.

Bangladesh Bank Executive Director Hosne Ara Shikha, Director of the SME and Special Programs Department Nawshad Mustafa and Deputy Director Nurun Nahar attended the signing ceremony, along with senior officials from participating financial institutions.
