The Chattogram City Corporation (CCA) has achieved nearly 94 percent of its target in the ongoing measles-rubella vaccination campaign, according to Mayor Shahadat Hossain.
He stressed that utmost importance must be given to ensuring no child in the city remains outside vaccination coverage.
The mayor made the remarks at a coordination meeting on the vaccination campaign held at the CCA office conference room in Tigerpass on Tuesday afternoon.
According to the mayor, the target was set to bring 3,285,000 children under vaccination coverage in the CCA area. Of these, 2,79,520 children have been vaccinated so far, reaching 93.8 percent of the total target.
“I hope the 100 percent target will be achieved within the remaining days of the campaign. However, meeting the target is not enough; we must ensure that no child is left out of vaccination,” Shahadat Hossain said.
The mayor directed that evening vaccination programmes be continued for the convenience of working parents.
He also instructed authorities to prepare door-to-door lists to identify children who have missed vaccinations and to intensify miking activities in each area.
CCA Chief Executive Officer Ashraful Amin, Divisional Health Officer Sheikh Fazle Rabbi, Civil Surgeon Jahangir Alam, and CCA Chief Health Officer Imam Hossain Rana spoke at the meeting.
