The Trading Corporation of Bangladesh (TCB) is set to launch its mobile truck sale programme on Monday, in preparation for the upcoming Eid-ul-Adha 2026. The initiative will be officially inaugurated by Commerce Minister Khandaker Abdul Muktadir in the Agargaon area of the capital.
The programme will see a total of 720 mobile trucks selling essential commodities at subsidised prices from 11 to 21 May 2026, excluding Fridays. The operations will run for 10 days, with each truck serving 400 members of the general public daily.
It is estimated that approximately 28.80 lakh beneficiaries will receive nearly 13,939 metric tonnes of goods through this initiative, which is open to any consumer.
An order signed by Md Shahadat Hossain, Deputy Director (Commercial) of TCB, outlines the distribution plan for the trucks. Dhaka Metropolitan (including Dhaka district) will have 50 trucks, while Chattogram Metropolitan (including Chattogram district) will have 20 trucks.
Each of the other six divisional cities and their respective districts will receive 15 trucks each, and the remaining 56 districts will be served by 10 trucks per district.
The following commodities will be sold at subsidised rates, with maximum quantities per consumer: Edible Oil: Maximum 2 litres at Tk130 per litre; Sugar: Maximum 1 kg at Tk80 per kg; Lentils (Masur Dal): Maximum 2 kg at Tk70 per kg.
The TCB order also noted that the regular sale of subsidised products to low-income families holding TCB cards is ongoing, in line with government directives.
For May 2026, approximately 34,848 metric tonnes of products will be sold to nearly 72 lakh cardholder families. The volume of goods and prices for these cardholders will remain unchanged.
