The Minister of Fisheries and Livestock, Sultan Salahuddin Tuku, has emphasized that raising awareness at every level of society is essential to ensure safe food. Speaking as the Chief Guest at the 8th National Scientific Conference on “Food Safety and Health,” organized by the Bangladesh Society for Safe Food (BSSSF), he called for coordinated efforts from both the government and private sector institutions to safeguard public health and secure safe food for all.

He stressed the need for increased research into safe food and nutrition, particularly in areas of biodiversity and natural resource conservation, pointing out the importance of preserving Bangladesh’s fish production and biodiversity.
“One of the key challenges we face is fulfilling the food demand of a large population,” said the Minister. He also noted Prime Minister Tarique Rahman’s commitment to building a safe, nutritious, and sustainable food system for future generations. Tuku urged all sectors of society to collaborate to meet the population’s nutritional needs and improve the nation’s overall health and prosperity.
