A literary journal that has quietly shaped Bangladeshi critical thought for a decade and a half reached its centenary issue this March, drawing poets, intellectuals and political figures to Bangla Academy to mark the occasion, the magazine said in a press release.
‘Bibidha’, a magazine of literature and thought that carries the slogan “a magazine of review”, published its 100th issue with the March 2026 edition. The publication first appeared in May 2011 and has maintained regular publication ever since, carving out a reputation as a steady platform for literary and philosophical critique. On this milestone, the magazine hosted a celebratory gathering of writers, intellectuals, politicians, journalists and well-wishers at the Al Mahmud Writers’ Corner of Bangla Academy.
Those present included poet and thinker Farhad Mazhar, State Reform Movement President Hasnat Qayyum, Bangla Academy Director General Mohammad Azam, poet Majid Mahmood, poet and thinker Foyez Alam, poet and publisher Afzalul Basar, essayist Rashed Raham, poet Zahir Hasan, essayist Fakrul Chowdhury, and ‘Bibidha’ magazine editor Iktiza Ahsan, among others.
