Bangladesh Bank appointed an administrator to Aviva Finance Limited to ensure continued operations as the non-bank financial institution (NBFI) moves towards liquidation.
The central bank on Sunday named Bangladesh Bank Director of Financial Institutions and Markets Department Hasan Tareq Khan to take charge, according to an official order.
He will exercise the powers and perform the duties of Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer during his tenure. He will be released from his current role at the central bank after the close of business on Monday.
The appointment aims to maintain operational continuity at the company under regulatory oversight, Bangladesh Bank said.
About Tk809 crore in deposits from individuals and institutions remain locked in Aviva Finance, raising concerns among depositors.
In November 2025, Bangladesh Bank approved the liquidation of Aviva Finance along with eight other NBFIs as part of efforts to address distress in the sector.
