A major fire broke out at a jhut (garment waste) warehouse in Fatullah of Narayanganj on Friday evening.
No casualties have been reported so far.
The fire started around 7pm in Sastapur area near the jail along the Dhaka-Narayanganj Link Road.
According to local sources, the blaze originated at a garment waste storage facility and quickly spread to nearby structures due to the highly flammable materials stored in the area.
Within moments, the fire engulfed several warehouses, a tea stall, and a motorcycle workshop.
Witnesses said flames rose high into the air, creating panic among residents in the surrounding locality.
A tea stall, a motorcycle servicing workshop, and multiple jhut warehouses were damaged in the incident. However, authorities have not confirmed any injuries or burn victims.
On information, eight units of fire service rushed to the spot and launched firefighting operations. Additional units were also dispatched to support ongoing efforts to contain the blaze.
Fire Service and Civil Defence Deputy Director Abdullah Al Arefin said multiple teams are working to control the flame.
He said the cause of the blaze remains unknown and the extent of damage will be assessed after the situation is fully brought under control.
