Eastern University marked Bangla New Year 1433 with a day-long celebration on 20 April, bringing together teachers, students, officers, staff, and alumni, the university said in a press release.
The programme was organised by the Eastern University Cultural Club on the campus.
Eastern University Vice Chancellor Professor Farid A Sobhani attended as the chief guest.
“Pohela Boishakh is not merely a date, it is a day to reconnect with our roots,” said Eastern University Vice Chancellor Professor Farid A Sobhani.
“A university is not only a centre for the dissemination of knowledge, but also a place that nurtures culture and human values,” he said.
He extended New Year greetings and wished everyone happiness, prosperity, and success. Eastern University Treasurer Professor Md Shamsul Huda said the New Year reflects the richness and diversity of Bengali culture.
“The cultural awareness our students are demonstrating through the celebration is truly inspiring,” he said.
Eastern University Registrar Abul Bashar Khan also greeted students.
“May those of you who will build the Bangladesh of tomorrow always carry your heritage with you as you move forward,” he said. Deans, department heads, officers, and staff members were present at the event.
The programme featured a fair, cultural performances, a flash mob, a bioscope, a Ferris wheel, and stalls offering food and handicrafts. Students in traditional attire added to the festive atmosphere across the campus.
Business Administration Department Assistant Professor Abdullah Al-Fahad hosted the event.
Deputy Director of Student Affairs and Placement KM Monirul Islam supervised the programme.
