BNP will begin the sale of nomination forms for reserved women’s seats of 13th National Parliament starting Friday.

The party’s Senior Joint Secretary General  Ruhul Kabir Rizvi announced the schedule. The prime minister’s adviser stated that aspirants can collect nomination forms from the party’s central office in Nayapaltan from 11am on Friday.

The price for each nomination form has been fixed at Tk2,000. Prospective candidates are required to submit their completed forms by 12 April, at which time a security deposit of Tk50,000 must also be paid.

In a related development, the Election Commission (EC) on Wednesday announced the official schedule for 13th National Parliament’s reserved women’s seat elections, setting 12 May as the date for polls.

EC Senior Secretary Akhtar Ahmed declared the schedule during a briefing at the Election Bhaban in Agargaon on Wednesday.

According to the announced schedule, the final date for the submission of nomination papers is April 21. The scrutiny of these nomination papers will take place on April 22 and 23. The EC Secretary further informed that the date for filing appeals has been set for April 26, with appeals to be disposed of on April 27 and 28.

The deadline for the withdrawal of candidacy is April 29, and symbols will be allocated on April 30. Voting is scheduled to be held on May 12.

Out of the 350 seats in the National Parliament, 50 are reserved for women. Among these, 36 seats have been allocated for the BNP, while 13 seats are reserved for Jamaat-e-Islami and its alliance, and one seat is designated for independent candidates.
