An Iranian missile strike targeted the Neot Hovav industrial zone near Beersheba, Israel on Thursday, resulting in a fire and a suspected hazardous materials leak at a factory.
Fire and rescue teams are currently working to seal and contain damaged chemical storage units at the site. According to Itzik Levy, the deputy head of the fire service’s Southern District, the leak has been identified as a pesticide.
Officials confirmed that no casualties have been reported in Israel thus far. However, staff from the targeted facility and neighbouring plants have been evacuated as a precautionary measure.
The public has been urged to stay away from the industrial zone. Residents in the vicinity have been instructed to remain indoors, keep their windows closed, and strictly adhere to orders from security and rescue forces while officials continue to gauge the situation.
