An 18-year-old college student was killed and his friend injured after a truck struck their motorcycle in the capital’s Tejgaon area in the early hours of Friday.
The deceased was identified as Shahriar Imon, an 11th-grade student at Siddheswari College. He was the son of the late Hazrat Ali and a resident of Mugda Manda Madhyapara. His friend, 20-year-old Omar Faruk, sustained injuries in the accident.
The accident occurred at approximately 1:45am on the road in front of the Saodan Group Company building. According to the deceased’s brother-in-law, Md Saddam Hossain, Imon had gone out during the night on his maternal uncle’s motorcycle accompanied by Faruk.
Following the accident, passersby rescued the two youths and rushed them to Dhaka Medical College Hospital (DMCH). Attending doctors pronounced Imon dead at around 2:30 am. Omar Faruk was released after receiving primary treatment at the hospital,.
Inspector Md Faruk, in-charge of the DMCH police camp, confirmed the fatality and stated that the body has been kept in the hospital morgue.
