Tasnim Anika, a popular singer of the current generation, opened up about her musical journey, personal experiences, and the contemporary music scene as a guest on Times of Bangladesh’s special Eid program, “Rhythm of Times.” Hosted by Souro Bappa, the episode featuring Anika is set to air on the fourth day of Eid (March 24) at 7:00 PM on the media outlet’s Facebook page and YouTube channel.
Anika’s deep-rooted connection with music dates back to her childhood. She credited her father, musician Moinuddin Ahmed, for introducing her to the world of live performances. Reminiscing about those formative years, she shared, “I used to watch concerts in stadiums—James bhai would be performing, people would be fainting, and ambulances would be on standby. Seeing that level of craze made me realize—this is where I belong.”
She referred to that era of Bangladeshi band music as a “golden age” that profoundly influenced her generation. Although she began her career in modeling, winning the “Miss Chittagong 2008” title, she chose not to pursue it long-term. Explaining her departure from the pageant world, she noted, “I cannot handle monotony. I love taking on new challenges.”
Regarding her future plans, the singer stated that her primary focus is now on releasing new songs and music videos. However, she expressed a slight disappointment regarding film music. “To be honest, I don’t get enough opportunities in playback singing,” she admitted.
Concluding the session, Anika reaffirmed her unwavering faith in the craft, stating, “The dedication of real musicians never goes in vain.”
