BNP Chairperson and former Prime Minister Khaleda Zia was taken to Evercare Hospital in Dhaka on Wednesday evening for a scheduled health check-up, amid ongoing concerns over her deteriorating health.
She arrived at the hospital from her residence in Gulshan at approximately 7:47pm, confirmed BNP media cell member Sayrul Kabir Khan.
According to her personal physician, Professor AZM Zahid Hossain, the 79-year-old leader will undergo several diagnostic tests based on recommendations from her medical board. “Once the tests are completed, the board will determine the next steps in her treatment,” he said.
Khaleda Zia has long been battling multiple chronic health issues. She is currently under the care of a medical board comprising specialists from Evercare Hospital and her personal team of doctors, who have been overseeing her treatment at home.
The BNP chief returned to Dhaka on May 6 after receiving four months of advanced medical care in London, where she was treated by renowned liver specialist Professor Patrick Kennedy. Her travel to and from London was facilitated by a special air ambulance arranged with the support of Qatar’s Emir, Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani.
Prior to her latest hospital visit, Khaleda Zia last underwent a medical evaluation at Evercare on September 12.
