Mother, son among three killed in Gazipur road crash

Three people were killed and three others injured on Tuesday afternoon after a bus hit a CNG-run auto-rickshaw on the Dhaka-Kishoreganj Highway in Kapasia upazila of Gazipur district.

The deceased were Ratna Akter (32) and her son Shayan (4) along with Toufidul Islam (14), son of Abul Kalam of Tarail upazila of Kishoreganj.

Kapasia Police Station Officer-in-Charge Joynal Abedin Mandal, said that the accident occurred when the Kishoreganj-bound bus of ‘Annanya Classic Paribahan’ from Dhaka hit the CNG-run auto-rickshaw approaching from the opposite direction.

The incident occurred near the Surya Narayanpur Palli Bidyut area, leaving two people dead on the spot and four others injured.

Among the injured, one died on the way to Dhaka and another was sent to Dhaka Medical College Hospital in a critical condition for advanced treatment.

Mandal said that the police are trying to identify the bus and arrest its driver.
