Bayern Munich will be without Harry Kane for their upcoming Bundesliga match against Borussia Mönchengladbach due to a minor leg injury, dealing a blow to the champions’ attacking line-up.
The English striker has been in superb form for Bayern in recent seasons, and his goalscoring appetite has grown even stronger this term. Last week, Kane netted twice in Bayern’s 3–2 win over Bundesliga runners-up Borussia Dortmund, helping extend Bayern’s lead over Dortmund to 11 points.
Bayern coach Vincent Kompany confirmed at a press conference on Thursday that Kane’s injury is not serious:
“He has a muscle problem in his leg and hasn’t fully recovered. It’s a minor injury and nothing long-term, but we may have one less day to prepare him for the match.
“We are confident, but of course it would be better if he were available for selection.”
Kane has scored twice in each of his last four Bundesliga fixtures, bringing his tally to 30 goals in 24 games this season. He was on course to challenge Robert Lewandowski’s single-season Bundesliga record of 41 goals, previously set by the Polish striker for Bayern. This injury now delays his pursuit of the record.
Bayern remain top of the Bundesliga table with 63 points from 24 matches, while Mönchengladbach sit 12th with 25 points from the same number of games.
