Marlon Wayans is set to reprise his role as Shorty Meeks in ‘Scary Movie 6’, promising a return to the franchise’s trademark irreverent humour.
In a recent interview, Wayans said the new instalment is about “bringing back comedy the way it used to be” and called for audiences to “cancel the cancel culture”. He described the film as “multi-generational” and said it would continue the series’ tradition of being “equal opportunity offenders”.
“We’re gonna make fun of everybody,” he said, adding that the team aims to be fearless while still allowing audiences to “laugh at themselves”.
Directed by Michael Tiddes and written by Marlon, Shawn and Keenen Ivory Wayans alongside Craig Wayans and Rick Alvarez, the film brings back several familiar faces, including Shawn Wayans, Anna Faris and Regina Hall.
Scary Movie 6 is scheduled for release in cinemas on June 5.
