Health and Family Planning Minister Sardar Md Sakhawat Hossain has announced that the government will conduct on-site inspections in hospitals to ensure doctors provide proper care and services to patients.
Speaking at a briefing on the ministry’s overall activities at the Secretariat’s Health Ministry conference hall on Thursday, the minister said, “We aim to provide the highest standard of care in hospitals. We will follow the directives of the prime minister and ensure their guidance is implemented fully.”
He emphasised accountability, stating, “We will immediately visit hospitals to monitor whether doctors on duty are fulfilling their responsibilities. Everyone must be answerable for their duties. Our initiatives must directly benefit the public, and no syndicate will be allowed to exploit the system.”
The minister also stressed the importance of impartial service, noting, “The prime minister has instructed that healthcare must be provided equally to all citizens, regardless of political affiliation.”
The briefing was chaired by Health Secretary Md Saidur Rahman, with State Minister for Health MA Muhit attending as a special guest.
During the meeting, State Minister MA Muhit highlighted the ongoing vacancy issues across departments and institutions, which hinder public access to essential health services.
He also underlined the need to enhance the quality of medical education nationwide.
