At least five people, including a child, sustained burn injuries in an explosion at a salon in Fatullah on Friday evening.
The blast occurred around 6pm at Mintur Salon near Dhaka Textile Mill in the Sastapur area of Fatullah.
One of the injured has been identified as barber Mintu, while the names of the other victims, including the child, are yet to be confirmed.
Local residents rushed the injured to Dhaka Medical College Hospital for treatment.
Witnesses said a gas leakage from a Titas Gas pipeline along the road from Sastapur Gabtola to Custom intersection may have caused the incident.
They suspect leaked gas accumulated inside the salon and ignited, resulting in the explosion.
Atikur Rahman, manager of Titas Gas’s Fatullah region, confirmed that a team was dispatched to the site after receiving the report.
Police and fire service officials are yet to issue a detailed statement, and the exact cause of the explosion remains under investigation.
