Hasanat Abdullah, the National Citizen Party’s (NCP) South Region Coordinator and candidate for the Cumilla-4 Debidwar constituency, believes that as the day progresses, he will move closer to victory.
Speaking after casting his vote at the Gopalnagar High School polling centre in Debidwar on Thursday morning at 8am, the 11-party alliance candidate said, “We want to remain free from any concerns. Voting should be a celebration, not a fear. People will exercise their right to vote and cast their vote for whomever they wish.”
Hasanat further stated that, so far, he has not received any reports of technical or procedural issues at any polling centre.
He added, “I urge the people of Debidwar to vote for whoever they wish. I do not want personal relationships to be affected by voting.”
He also said that the new voters were turning up enthusiastically to take part in the election.
Voting began at 7:30am on Thursday at more than 42,000 polling centres across the country in 299 constituencies.
The 13th national election is being held with around 13 crore registered voters, whose decision will determine the formation of Bangladesh’s next government.
