AB Bank PLC has officially handed over a cheque for Tk2.4 crore to Bangladesh Bank as part of initiatives aligned with Bangladesh Bank’s directives on the formation and operation of the ‘Bangladesh Startup Investment Company PLC.’

The cheque was presented by Iftekhar Enam Awal, Deputy Managing Director of AB Bank, to Nawshad Mustafa, Director of the SME and Special Programs Department at Bangladesh Bank. Also present at the event were Hafia Tazrean, Additional Director of the SME and Special Programs Department at Bangladesh Bank, and Md Arijul Islam Mollick, Head of SME Banking at AB Bank, along with senior officials from the relevant departments.

Founded in 1981, AB Bank PLC is Bangladesh’s first private sector bank and has been at the forefront of innovation and customer-focused solutions. Over the last 43 years, the bank has built a strong legacy of service, introducing digital banking solutions such as internet and SMS banking, advanced ICT infrastructure, and 24/7 ATMs to make banking simpler, faster, and smarter.

AB Bank operates 104 full-service branches, sub-branches, agent banking outlets, and over 250 ATMs across the country. It also has an international presence with a branch in Mumbai, India, a representative office in Yangon, Myanmar, and a fully owned subsidiary, AB International Finance Limited, in Hong Kong. The bank also manages five subsidiaries, including an Offshore Banking Unit and Custodial Services.

In 2007, the bank rebranded from Arab Bangladesh Bank Limited to AB Bank PLC., symbolising a fresh vision for the future. The new logo, inspired by the traditional Sheetal Pati, represents the woven bond of trust, service, and shared progress, which continues to drive AB Bank forward.
