Islami Andolan Bangladesh Ameer Syed Muhammad Rezaul Karim has pledged to ensure the highest level of security for minority communities across the country if his party wins in the February polls.
Addressing an election rally for the Barguna-1 constituency at the Amtali Municipal Mukto Moncho on Friday morning, Rezaul Karim, known as Charmonai Pir, said people belong to minority community would enjoy full security and equal rights under Islami Andolan Bangladesh.
“If the they win, minorities will be guaranteed maximum security and protection. Support the electoral symbol ‘Hand fan’ to ensure your safety,” he told the gathering.
He said while various political parties had promised visions such as a “Golden Bangladesh,” “Green Bangladesh,” or “Digital Bangladesh,” his party aimed to bring genuine well-being to the country’s 18 crore people.
“We may not offer slogans, but we will work to bring smiles to people’s faces,” he said.
Referring to events following the 2024 mass uprising, Rezaul Karim claimed that Islami Andolan Bangladesh members stood guard nationwide to protect minority communities when attempts were made to seize markets and properties.
He added that Charmonai had long been an example of communal harmony, where minorities lived in safety and dignity.
Calling on party activists to remain committed, he expressed optimism that their efforts would lead to victory. He also warned rival candidates against attempting to seize polling centres or resort to violence, cautioning that such actions would not be tolerated.
Presiding over the rally, Barguna-1 candidate Mahmudul Hossain Waliullah said he aspired to serve the people rather than rule them.
He pledged to promote constructive politics, end political harassment through false cases, curb terrorism and extortion, and build a Barguna focused on education and employment.
