Attorney General Advocate Asaduzzaman on Wednesday declared that elections in Bangladesh will never again be conducted at night, ensuring citizens can safely access polling booths to cast their votes freely.
Speaking at multiple meetings and seminars in Shailkupa over the past week, the attorney general strongly criticised former chief justices Khairul Haque and Syed Mahmud Hossain, calling them “disgraceful” for abolishing the 13th amendment, which he claimed stripped people of their voting rights.
“There will be no mafia in the judiciary, and no syndicate of vested quarters,” Asaduzzaman asserted.
He highlighted his ongoing efforts against drugs and corruption, claiming significant progress. Urging public cooperation, he called on citizens to report drug and corruption-related activities, promising confidentiality for informants.
“We will build a drug-free Shailkupa. Only the names of those involved in narcotics will be exposed,” he vowed.
During his visit, the attorney general attended events organised by local groups, including the Bankers’ Forum of Shailkupa. Addressing development projects in the area, he emphasised, “These works are funded by your taxes.”
Warning against misuse of public funds, he stated, “No corruption will be tolerated. Those involved will face strict consequences.”
The week-long campaign included seminars and public gatherings across Shailkupa Upazila, reinforcing governance and accountability measures.
